27 yo female patient from a province of South Vietnam had had her right uterine tube removed due to internal bleeding and lost of menstruation for 2 months. A via-vagina ultrasound scanning (TVS) revealed a probable right tubal ectopic pregnancy but there were no convincing evidences. Two months after of the mentionned above operation, she again experienced a second internal bleeding and was then transferred to HCM city. At that time, an abdominal ultrasound, confirmed after by MSCT 64, detected a healthy fetus 23 weeks inside the right lobe of liver. An emergency operation was carried out but the procedure could neither help save the fetus nor her mother because of severe bleeding.
The mistake was due to a transvaginal sonography was performed for 2 months before without doing an abdominal ultrasound, so that could not detect in time a hepatic ectopic pregnancy.
This case maybe is the fourth hepatic ectopic pregnancy case so far in the world.
