35yo male patient from Danang City suffered from his middle left thigh swelling for 6 months.
The result of histopathology was a giant cell tumor type II of the femur bone with 2 components= one, some giant cells with many nucleii and other, soft tissue with fibroblasts and histiocytes. There were a lot of macrocytes and hemorrhagic areas and hemosiderin accumulatings.
MSCT = Lesion at 1/3 middle of the left femur made lacking the intramarrow bone cliques , breaking the bone crust and infiltrating the soft tissue #7x8cm. There were calcifications into the bone marrow. In general the lesion image was like half tumor and half osteitis.
Ultrasound findings= Hypoechoic structure #10x3x3,6cm at 1/2 left thigh, hypervascular with osteonecrosis at anteriolateral of the femur and cystic formations with coarse fluid. There were 2 hypoechoic nodules 16 and 27 mm in the muscle and subcutaneous layer.
This was the first description of ultrasound findings of a giant cell tumor of the femur with trespassing on the soft tissue.
